ADULT CLASSES ....

Students must be at least 18 years of age.  Classes must have a minimum of 4 students registered before they can actually be held.  Maximum registrants in each class will be determined by the instructor.  If you don't see a class here that you be interested in taking, please call the Art Center at 281-427-5365 or email your requests to the Webmaster

 

Classes can be held during the day Monday through Saturday or in the evening Monday through Friday depending on student interest.  New classes can begin when at least 4 students register with a maximum of 10 students per session. Registration forms are available at the Art Center; materials lists are also available at the time of registration.  For more information call the Art Center at 281-427-5365 or Priscilla Hopkins at 281-424-2743.

BEGINNING WATERCOLOR

 

Taught by Bobby Sutphin.  You will learn the basics of creating a watercolor painting.  Lessons include learning the color wheel, working with values, as well as still life and landscape painting. The cost is $95 for 6 weekly classes of 3 hours each. 

the dauber school of fine art

 

Taught by Ken Pridgeon in his studio.  These are painting/learning sessions.  The cost is $35 per class or 3 classes for $100.  Ken will teach his personal and unique methods using computers (which are provided in the studio), other technologies as well as traditional painting techniques.  The Dauber's studio is located at 216 Morrell in Baytown and the phone number is 832-514-1452.

beginning oil painting

 

Taught by Nancy Winans.  You will learn the basic techniques of oil painting including how to set up your pallett, the uses of mediums, experiments with different brushes, the pallett knife, etc.  The cost is $50 for 4 weekly 2-1/2 hour sessions.

 

jewelry design

 

Taught by Cindy Cloutier.  You will learn the basics of fashion jewelry design and assembly.  The cost is $15 per class plus supplies for weekly 2 hour sessions

 

BEGINNING DRAWING

 

Taught by Barbara Green.  The lessons will cover light and shadow, value, form, basic composition and perspective.  Media will include pencil, pen and ink, conte crayon and charcoal.  A starter kit will be provided as well as a materials list.  The cost is $95 for 6 weekly classes of 2 hours each. 

DRAWING THE ADULT HUMAN FIGURE

 

Taught by artist Barbara Green.  The lessons will cover body proportions for the male and female, positioning of facial features, the use of light and shadow to give dimension and a final "portrait" assignment.  Media will include pencil, pen and ink, colored pencil and pastel.  A starter kit will be provided as well as a materials list.  The cost is $95 for 6 weekly classes of 2 hours each.
